Over the last 7 decades since UIBE’s establishment, we have seen our graduates in many parts of the world. Our university has made great strides over these eventful years.On September 19th 2021, UIBE is going to celebrate its 70th anniversary. So, we would like to salute to all UIBE’s alumnus and members associated with the UIBE community who deeply care, love and support the UIBE’s development.

UIBE’s founding mission has never been changed.It is established to strengthen China’s relations with the outside world through thriving trade and investment, thanks to China’s reform and opening-up, especially in the new era. UIBE was founded in 1951 as part of an effort to make the country strong through trade and investment with the outside world, and over the years we have been sticking to this national mission. As the first institution of higher learning dedicated to such mission since China’s founding in 1949, UIBE has grown to be a force to be reckoned with globally.

UIBE has been growing and cultivating talents because China and our university are on the same boat.During the past 70 years, UIBE has continued to achieve its educational goal of fostering talents for China and the world. UIBE is at the forefront of serving the national economic development needs and meeting the strategic demand of the country, especially in areas of reform and opening-up. UIBE has been making great strides as part of our national rejuvenation. The university has always been consistently relevant to China’s economic development, moving forward with its peoples, and staying current with time. The history of UIBE is all about thinking big, sticking to its founding mission, following the national strategies, and courageously taking on its due responsibilities. It is also about how people of the UIBE community work towards their dreams and contribute to the era’s progress, while demonstrating vibrant vitality of youth and honorable patriotism through arduous, relentless and unswerving intellectual explorations.

Like the Whampoa Military Academy in areas of business and economics, UIBE has been committed to graduating men of virtue and competence.During the past 7 decades, UIBE has been steadfast in living up to its motto of "Erudition, Honesty, Endeavor and Perfection". It has continuously stayed with its fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and developed its own unique style to train talents with practical skills, an international vision and a spirit of interdisciplinary exploration. By doing so, UIBE’s students are patriotic, cosmopolitan, persevering and hard-working. As a major national university directly under supervision of the Ministry of Education in China, UIBE has attracted the best pool of faculties and won a nationwide reputation. it is one of the first batch of universities of the "211 project" and "Double First-Class initiative". Co-founded by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce, UIBE is a multi-disciplinary university of finance, economics and foreign languages with six major disciplines, including economics, management, law, liberal arts, science and engineering, featured with popular majors such as applied economics, law, finance, business administration, foreign languages and literature.

200000 students have graduated from UIBE over the past 70 years.Where there is trade and business, there are UIBE alumni. Since its founding 70 years ago, UIBE has nurtured more than 200 thousand excellent graduates majoring in areas like economics, trade, law and international affairs. They have made significant contribution to China’s social and economic development and the building of a community with a shared future. Some of them are statesmen, diplomats, entrepreneurs, experts in finance, international business and etc. After decades of endeavor, UIBEers use their talent to make the world feel China’s presence on the global stage.

This year UIBE welcomes an even more exciting and promising year.The year of 2021 marks the centennial anniversary and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and UIBE respectively. It is also the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. It is a big event to all faculty and the whole history of UIBE. In line with the principles of "openess, liveliness, pragmatism and modesty", we will hold a series of celebration events to summarize experience and exhibit the achievements made over the past 70 years. We will also take this opportunity to deepen our campus culture and engage all forces together to promote the reform and development of our university.

Those who have a common aspiration don’t feel distant even if thousands of miles apart.We look forward to the return of our alumni. We sincerely invite people from all walks of life who support the development of UIBE to attend the celebrations and join hands to create a new glory for UIBE. We hope to see our alumni and friends to gather together, strengthen our friendship and jointly write a new chapter for UIBE.
